This picture is a good example of the Great Depression in America because in the front it shows a poor African American who is probably starving without a cent to his name. This represents the Great Depression because the banks crashed and nobody had money or jobs and all of their possessions were being taken by the bank. In the back you see a woman painting an airplane. This represents the transformation to World War II because women got rights and no longer did they have to stay at home, get beaten by their husbands, and just cook and clean all their lives; but they could now work and do a man's job. Also America exported many products during and after World War II and it shows how Americans worked hard. The picture also has imagery becuase as you can see, the African American boy in the front has a dull, boring, and depressing aura, while the woman is colorful and bright. This represents how things were gloomy and hopeless during the Great Depression and then reversed and the country prospered after World War II.
